The man is the richest whose pleasures are the cheapest. Thoreau
**I’m working on this one… I really am. Unfortunately, I really like shopping.

IT’S NOT HOW OLD YOU ARE, BUT HOW YOU ARE OLD!
MARIE DRESSLER
I had to read that one twice but it really does make a lot of sense. I am really as old as dirt… or I would have thought so when I was my daughter’s age, but I’m just not ready to get old yet. I just might hold off for a few more decades.

I have bit of paper that I have written down little things that I have heard or picked up from some sourse and I thought that I would simply pass it along. Who knows… it just might come in handy some day. We have enough things on any given day to keep ourselves busy… we don’t need any more. So, if you have a vase that could use a lit TLC, here’s what you can do. Take a handful of rice and toss it into the vase. Add some warm soapy water and then give it a few good shakes. Discard the water/rice and the vase should be nice and shiny.
You really don’t need to go out and buy something special!

It’s not those pretty cases that you pay a fortune for. It’s a plain plastic bag that you can zip closed. You can see the contents in seconds, which is a bonus for me. After all, who has the time to go rooting around in a bag just to find that the eyeliner pencil you were looking for was in a drawer all along. Give me an inexpensive see through bag any day. Saves me time and money.

Happiness is the by-product of an effort to make someone else happy.
Gretta Palmer
I didn’t make my daughter take me shopping today. I wonder if that counts??

Most of the time we begin our day by doing for everyone else. If there is any time left over, just maybe we can find a few minutes to devote to ourselves. And then it is still usually somehow connected to someone else. So today, choose 30 minutes and do something just for yourself. It might even be sitting back, closing your eyes and learning the art of deep breathing! I actually bought a book on the subject. I’m still working my way through Wayne Dyer’s book, but this one on breathing is sitting on my dresser just waiting.
Today… it’s all about you!

No one has the right to consume happiness without producing it. Helen Keller
For some reason that never occurred to me before tonight. I was so swept up in creating my own happiness on a daily basis, that it never really occurred to me that I also had the responsibility of creating it for someone else. I might do little things now and then, but suddenly it doesn’t seem quite enough. If we all did just a little bit more…
