In Love With Ice Cream… is there anyone who doesn’t like it?? I do remember one occasion when my mom and dad wanted to make my eighteen birthday party really special and invited the entire family as well as a ton of friends to our house. Being the girly girl that I am, mom picked up this huge bucket (the kind that restaurants have) of strawberry ice cream. It was pink!! Well, someone goofed. It wasn’t pink. It was orange and black and tasted about as bad as it looked. Okay, I guess it would have been okay if you liked orange ice cream with licorice swirls. Too bad my birthday hadn’t been in October. It would have been really cool lol…
A Little Link Love For the Last Day of March
It’s just so much fun seeing what other people are saying. Here’s today’s findings.
Feeling Fresh In The Morning (ways to wake up feeling great)
Question for a Cold February Night
Of all the coffees on the market, what flavor is your absolute favorite??
Just In Case… The Breakfast Basket
You might want to keep this list handy just in case you need a quick little gift for that Secret Sister sometime in the coming year. Starting the next time you go out… pick up any of the items on the list below. And I’m pretty sure that she will love it!
*pancake mix
*loaf of fresh bread (use your breadmaker)
*jar of honey
*jar of jam
*pair of mugs
*set of tea towels
The Secret to a Happy Kitchen
… is to have someone else do the cooking and cleaning up afterward. I guess that’s why I love to eat out so much. I don’t care what anyone says… I would never get bored with eating out.
All About Breakfasts
Cereals high in fibre will keep you full longer. Same goes for breads. A slice of brown will break down more slowly than white. So, the next time you are at the supermarket, be sure to check out the fibre content of what you buy. If you are full, there is last chance of snacking before lunch. I hate to think of how many calories are in a muffin… which we once thought were good for us!
Snowman Pancakes
I thought that the kids might like this idea… and Saturday is coming.
Use your favorite pancake recipe and then spoon batter onto a hot griddle to form the body of the snowman. You should have three pancakes, each graduating in size as would be found on a honest-to-goodness snowman and connected to the one above. Decorate with pretzels for the arms and candy bits for the buttons. For the nose… I’m kind of stuck!
How to Choose the Best Raisins
Most of us keep some sort of dried fruit in the house, but did you know that there are some things that you should look for before buying them. I never really gave it any thought until I started reading an article on the topic. What can I say, I was eating breakfast and had nothing else to do… so I started reading.
Lets take raisins for example. You should look for the plumpest you can find, and they should be of uniform color. And, now here is the biggy. Check to see if a lot of stalks have been thrown in. Who wants to pay for those? They should also be stored in a tightly covered glass container in a dark place. If you store them in the fridge… even better. And for years, I never even took them out of the bag!
The Just in Case Box
There have already been times this year when it has been so cold, that I would simply prefer to stay in and not venture out for any reason. But what if you are running out of food? Then what do you do?
The answer is “the just in case box”. Here’s a few items you might want to put into yours.
-canned tuna, salmon, or chicken for sandwiches with can opener just in case you lose the power
-a few cans of soup, macaroni and cheese in a box,
-box crackers, A jar of peanut butter, canned fruit, fruit juice in a can
Instant oatmeal, jar of coffee, powdered coffee milk
I’m sure you can adjust the contents to reflect your tastes, but these few staples can get you started.
