Woman Stuff

Stuff that keeps me amused ;)

In Love With Ice Cream… is there anyone who doesn’t like it?? I do remember one occasion when my mom and dad wanted to make my eighteen birthday party really special and invited the entire family as well as a ton of friends to our house. Being the girly girl that I am, mom picked up this huge bucket (the kind that restaurants have) of strawberry ice cream. It was pink!! Well, someone goofed. It wasn’t pink. It was orange and black and tasted about as bad as it looked. Okay, I guess it would have been okay if you liked orange ice cream with licorice swirls. Too bad my birthday hadn’t been in October. It would have been really cool lol…

Taking Jewelry on Vacation

I never take my expensive jewelry with me when I go on vacation… same goes for my watch. That’s just asking for it to be left on a hotel nightstand… been there and done that. So, now I simply take jewellery that I won’t mind losing… and it’s the bare minimum at that. For me that means a watch and one pair of earrings and that means, the cheapest I own. To date, it’s been a good rule of thumb. I can’t believe some of the women I have seen while on vacation. It looks as if they are wearing their jewelry box!

Tonight’s How-To

I have bit of paper that I have written down little things that I have heard or picked up from some sourse and I thought that I would simply pass it along. Who knows… it just might come in handy some day. We have enough things on any given day to keep ourselves busy… we don’t need any more. So, if you have a vase that could use a lit TLC, here’s what you can do. Take a handful of rice and toss it into the vase. Add some warm soapy water and then give it a few good shakes. Discard the water/rice and the vase should be nice and shiny.

You really don’t need to go out and buy something special!

Hanging Potpourri on the Wall

Here ’s a project for those of us who would make something interesting, but have little or no talent ;) All you have to do is make or buy two crocheted doilies choosing a size that can be framed inside a shadow box. Lace them together with a narrow red ribbon, leaving just enough space to add your favourite potpourri. Continue lacing and tie off in a bow.

Cut to size and then glue a piece of velvet to the back of a shadow box. Allow to dry and then glue the potpourri filled doily to the center of the box.

Peculiar People

Apparently, it’s peculiar people day. I have no idea how you celebrate such a day, but if you give it some thought, I’m sure that something will come to you. My sister had a real knack for coming up with ideas. She originated the Mad Cup… which made her husband very nervous if he found it placed at his spot at the table.  She also celebrated her son’s birthday (he was born in January)  in June. Since it was six months past his birthday, she did everything in halves. The kids were served half a hot dog (to start) half a glass of soda, and half a birthday cake. There were other things that she came up with, but those were the first to come to mind.

Anyway, back to the peculiar people… you just might be one yourself. What would other people say were your oddest traits??

Drops of essential oil (see below)

Combine all of the above and then add a few drops of  your favorite essential oils in combination until you have a scent that is just to your liking.

Dollar Store Stocking Stuffers : Just Thought of Something

Throughout the year, I will be giving you ideas for small gifts and stocking stuffers that occur to me. Today I just thought of something that might work for some of you. Coin wrappers. My son is a hairstylist and he has a bucket of change in his room that he never gets around to putting into the bank. It is something inexpensive and something that I know that he can use.

Is It Too Early for Easter Candy?

Valentines Day isn’t even here yet, but I’m already seeing Easter Candy on the shelves. Do you think that it is too early or does it simply put you in the spirit? Me… I’m a holiday junky, so it doesn’t bother me a bit, but I’m sure that it annoys some people big time!!

Just Couldn’t Resist

Here’s a quiet little way to say I love you to someone special in your life. I have just put away the Christmas decorations and I’m ready to move on to Valentine’s Day. I love to decorate every chance I get and this is just soooo cute.

Wrapping Gifts for Next Year

I have noticed on some of the lists that I belong to, that not only are the ladies snapping up gifts from all the sales, they are also wrapping them… now! The more I think about it, the better I like the idea. Just imagine, nothing to wrap in December… or very little. Did I ever mention the fact that I hate wrapping presents!!
