Did You Laugh Today??

Did you laugh today and if you didn’t, can you tell me why not. Really, I would love for you to come up with a very good reason. *The minute we leave our childhood… we stop! Okay, we might not stop, but we sure slow down!

Is this how you feel??

Now that I’m older, I let myself be who I am -bitchy and greedy on some days, nice and loving on others. Kyra Sedwick

Yeah, that pretty much covers it. That’s me lol…

The Face that You Were Given

Nature gives you the face you have when you are twenty. Life shapes the face you have at thirty. But it’s up to you to earn the face you have at fifty.
COCO CHANEL

So, I guess it’s up to me to take care of this face. That’s one reason that I have taken up meditating. Not easy but I will master it by the end of 2008!

Peculiar People

Apparently, it’s peculiar people day. I have no idea how you celebrate such a day, but if you give it some thought, I’m sure that something will come to you. My sister had a real knack for coming up with ideas. She originated the Mad Cup… which made her husband very nervous if he found it placed at his spot at the table.  She also celebrated her son’s birthday (he was born in January)  in June. Since it was six months past his birthday, she did everything in halves. The kids were served half a hot dog (to start) half a glass of soda, and half a birthday cake. There were other things that she came up with, but those were the first to come to mind.

Anyway, back to the peculiar people… you just might be one yourself. What would other people say were your oddest traits??

An Lazy Afternoon Quote

I never travel without my diary. One should always have something sensational to read.

Oscar Wilde…

Not quite sure that mine would be all that sensational, but it is a good idea to always carry something interesting to ready. The diary, I’m going to have to work on… or make up a lot of stuff…. lol

The Mad Cup

I was just thumbing through an old book on my bookshelf that I don’t even know if you can get anymore. It’s called Everyday Traditions by Nava Atlas. I did a quick check at Amazon and it isn’t there, so just maybe it’s out of print or something. But that’s neither here nor there. What it did do was remind me of “THE MAD CUP”. It was one of my little sister’s family traditions. When she was ticked off at her husband, she would simply put the cup at his place setting and he would know that she was… MAD about something.

I don’t know where she came up with the idea and since she passed away in 1993, I will never be able to ask her, but I was wondering if any of you have a tradition that is popular in your household??

The family is changing, not disappearing. We have to broaden our understanding of it, look for new metaphors. Mary Catherine Bateson
